Irish Cream Chocolate Fondue

My office hosted a Chocolate Potluck for Valentine's Day (how fun is that?!). I decided to bring chocolate fondue (mixed with Bailey's Irish Cream!) and get use out of one of the two fondue pots that I own. Making chocolate fondue isn't too difficult, and it allows for people to dip pretty much anything they want in it. You can tweak the recipe a ton of different ways (swirled with peanut butter, a white chocolate fondue, spicy chocolate, salted caramel, etc.) and you don't really have to have a fondue pot (although I highly recommend it!). This recipe makes one full pot of fondue.

Prep Time: none
Cook Time
: 10 minutes of simmering

Ingredients
Eleven (11) ounces of chocolate chips -- I used half dark chocolate and half milk chocolate
1/4 cup of heavy cream
1/4 cup of Irish cream
Sprinkle of nutmeg
One (1) teaspoon of vanilla extract
Fruit, pretzels, marshmallows, etc. for dipping!

Directions
Combine all ingredients in a fondue pot or a saucepan on low-medium heat (or the "simmer" setting).
Using a rubber spatula or large spoon, keep stirring the mixture until the chocolate has melted and all of the chocolate and cream has combined.
Turn down to low heat (or a "warm" setting) and let people dip to their heart's content!

There's no better way to eat a potato chip
than dipped in melted chocolate
Notes
I used strawberries, banana slices, pretzel rods, sea salt potato chips, marshmallows (please note that marshmallows are not vegetarian) for dipping.

You can also use Belgian waffle pieces, angel food cake, apple slices and chocolate chip cookies...everything tastes better dipped in melted chocolate!

  1. Have you tried the Dandies Vegan Marshmallows? I usually get them at Whole Foods but I've even seen them at Wegmans too so they must be coming more into the mainstream.

    1. I have not. I have, however, ordered Sweet & Sara marshmallows from NYC and they are AMAZING.
