Sweet & Spicy Roasted Chickpeas

A few weekends ago I went to the amazing Birroteca & ordered spicy roasted chickpeas for an appetizer. The entire table devoured them within minutes! They were spicy with a sugary, salty taste to them and we were all in love. I've been since looking for a similar recipe and I think I found it in The Lean Green Bean's blog. This recipe is really easy to make & doesn't cost very much at all. My rendition makes enough for about two to three people to finish in one sitting.

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients
One can of chickpeas, drained and rinsed
One (1) teaspoon of extra-virgin olive oil
Two (2) teaspoons of brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon of paprika
1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
Pinch of salt

Directions
Preheat your oven to 375F degrees.
In a bowl with a cover (this works well with a tupperware container or something similar), toss the chickpeas with the olive oil until they are completely coated.
Sprinkle the spices in, and toss again until the chickpeas are coated completely again.

In a baking pan, spread chickpeas evenly and bake for 45 minutes, checking and rearranging them every 15 minutes to ensure thorough baking.
When done, remove from oven. If you are so inclined, sprinkle the roasted chickpeas with a little bit of brown sugar for an added sweetness.
Enjoy warm or cool!
